With COVID-19 in the headlines, we wanted to let you know that we’re taking extra steps to safeguard your health, as well as the health of your pets and our staff.

You should know that animals are not made sick by COVID-19, the illness caused by coronavirus, and there is no evidence that they can spread it to humans, either. We advise that you practice proper hygiene before and after interacting with your pets. Wash your hands, in other words, and, if you’re sick, limit your contact with animals in your household.

As always, having a clean hospital is important to the Animal Hospital of Perth Amboy team. However, we have ramped up regular cleaning of all clinic surfaces, including doorknobs, computer terminals, and workspaces. We are also practicing good hygiene with frequent hand washing, and we’ve asked all sick employees to stay home.

Other steps we’re taking include:

· Practicing “social distancing” by spreading out appointments and limiting contact (no handshakes).
· Asking anyone who is sick, showing symptoms of COVID-19, or has been exposed to COVID-19 to stay at home and call us. We can arrange for medications to be shipped to your house.
· Postponing non-urgent appointments. You will not be charged a cancellation fee.
